During the four "off/rest" days, can I do cardio-type exercises such as burpees / box jumps / rowing etc?

I think cardio is ok, but in Phase 2 and Phase 3, I would take it easy with the high impact cardio on other days because the BuiltLean workouts get more intense.  

But rowing, jogging, hiking, walking, swimming etc. can definitely be a great idea. You could also consider adding a yoga or flexibility workout to your routine.
